THE ISLAND OF PAXOS
OTHER VILLAGES
Magazia
is situated along the road linking Gaios and Lakka and
is really a hamlet rather than a village. It is in a
good central location for exploring the whole island,
whether it be the beaches of the East Coast, the wild
scenery or the fantastic sunsets of the West Coast, or
the main villages of Gaios, Lakka, or Loggos. Magazia is
also the location of one of the latest finds on the
island - three graves dating from pre 600AD. Hopefully
these will one day be studied and their history
revealed.

Magazia has a mini-market, a couple of tavernas and a
bar.
Fontana
is by far the smallest of the villages on Paxos and is
situated on the road from Gaios to Loggos. It is a
pretty village with no real signs of the 21st century
(or even the 20th), which is one of its main
attractions. It has some lovely walks and buildings, and
is worth exploring.
It is well situated for exploring the island as it is
fairly central and there are roads or tracks from the
village leading down to the beaches below. Kaki Langada, perhaps one of the most popular of beaches on Paxos, is
just a short drive away down the new road that leads
past the reservoir to Gaios and the New Port.

Fontana has a very pretty church, a good taverna and a
kafenio, which also acts as a shop and bakery.
