PAINTING AND PHOTOGRAPHY HOLIDAYS IN GREECE
Paxos is a truly beautiful island just nine miles south
of Corfu. Very little has changed there in recent years
and, with its picturesque simplicity and easy pace of
life, it could not be more different from its larger and
better known neighbour.
Visitors to Paxos, many of whom return year after year,
have always said that the island was an artist’s
paradise. On the West coast there are dramatic cliffs,
while on the East coast there are pretty, unspoilt
villages and scenic bays. Much of the island is covered
in olive groves which in Spring and Autumn are carpeted
with wild flowers. The colours are simply amazing.
Paxos Life Activities is therefore now offering a range
of holidays and courses to encourage painters and
photographers to visit the island and realise their full
potential. So anyone looking for a painting or
photography holiday in Greece need look no further than
this tiny island. With its stunning scenery and
wonderfully clear light, it is in fact hard to imagine a
more inspiring location for painters or photographers.
The friendly and informal holidays offered by Paxos Life
Activities are all based around group tuition sessions
on five mornings a week leaving plenty of time for
individual advice, to explore Paxos or to simply relax.
They are suitable for painters and photographers of all
levels of ability working in most media.
Accommodation is in shared villas in or around the
delightful village of Loggos, the smallest of the three
coastal villages on the island. Villas such as
The Manor House, an
elegant building and one of the most famous houses on
the island, that commands wonderful views of Loggos
harbour and the mountains on the Greek mainland. Or the
elegant Villa Eleonora, with its own pool and spacious
terraces, tucked away in the peace of the shady olive
groves in the hamlet of Zernatika.
The holidays are not targeted at single travellers but
they are ideal for anyone travelling alone who wishes to
spend their time in the company of a group of
like-minded people. They are equally suited to couples
and larger groups.
It is also possible for anyone who wishes to be more
independent and stay in their own accommodation to join
the group tuition sessions.
At the time of writing, places are still available on
the following holidays in 2009: Painting (21 – 28
September) and Photography (28 September - 5 October).
Creative Writing holidays, Yoga holidays and Yacht
Charter, with or without a skipper, are also available.
