MONGONISSI
Heading south from Gaios you pass Gianna, Defteri,
Paxos Beach Hotel, Balos and Porto Ozias beaches before
arriving at Mongonissi, one of the best beaches on the
island, at the southern point of Paxos. From Gaios, you
can reach Mongonissi on foot in about an hour, either
along the coast road or through the olive groves via
Ozias, or by car in about five minutes. Mongonissi Bay
forms a very beautiful and sheltered inlet which
provides a safe anchorage for yachts and there is free
mooring for up to 50 boats and yachts. The sandy beach
is man-made and shelves very gently, making it ideal for
children. Immediately behind the beach is a very
popular taverna and it is possible to hire sunbeds,
kayaks, windsurfers and pedalos.
