THE ISLAND OF PAXOS
BEACHES
The east coast of Paxos is dotted with small coves and bays all the
way from Lakka in the north to Mongonissi in the south
and there are about 30 beaches in all. Most of the
beaches are made up of white pebbles and the wonderful
clear water is perfect for swimming, snorkelling and
diving.
Very few have sunbeds or umbrellas and rely instead on
the natural shade provided by the olive trees that
fringe many of them. Most can be reached on foot and
some can be reached by road but many visitors choose to
hire a small motor boat to explore the coastline.
To the south of Paxos lies the smaller island of
Anti Paxos,
where the wonderful sandy beaches are among the best in
the whole of Greece.
The main beaches on the east coast of Paxos are:
Harami and Kanoni
Monadendri
Levrechio
Marmari
Kipos
Kipiadi
Kaki Langada
Mongonissi
